VERNACULAR 1700 - Present
Mud Houses Mud or turf provided the cheapest type of construction. Some houses built
of mud still survive today. Wet unbaked clay was mixed with rushes, field
or beach stones and built up, in blocks like bricks or in layers to form
walls.
