Art Nouveau

The Art Nouveau style is marked by its sinuous lines and stylised symbols. The buildings have curved lines, elaborate lettering and use colour and materials extensively. Ideas from the Arts and Crafts Movement in England are sometimes incorporated with Celtic symbols from Irish mythology in architecture, furniture, textiles and jewellery. The style was short lived as an architectural fashion in Ireland but it had a long afterlife in the glazing patterns for entrance doors, side lights and feature windows.
