Definition

Georgian architecture is a term which describes buildings erected in the eighteenth and early nineteenth century with particular characteristics. It is an elegant and symmetrical style with pitched roofs, chimneys, sliding sash windows, door-cases, often with fanlights and, in the grander buildings, columns, pilasters and pediments.
