Sometimes those involved in caring for old buildings
feel alienated by terms such as historic buildings,
listed buildings, conservation areas and scheduled monuments.
They feel as if they are being excluded by experts from
taking care of their own properties. The Ulster Architectural
Heritage Society (UAHS) is committed to the use of best
practice but we want to empower owners to take good
care of their buildings by providing them with access
to information. The website will provide information
and guidance for owners with access to more detail through
direct links to other sources.
The UAHS is organising events for owners of old buildings
and details of these will be posted on the website.
These Owners Days will not be overly technical. They
are designed to provide information for the owner who
wants to know how to take good care of his building
in the most cost effective way. As a networking event
it is an excellent way of meeting other owners who understand
the issues and can pass on practical advice.
Those who live in old buildings are caring for an important
part of our heritage and keeping it in trust for future
generations. Thank you for doing so. Please enjoy the
website – we hope it helps you to care for your
building and to enjoy living in it!
